Dr. Brit Adler is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology. She received her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and subsequently completed her internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She completed a clinical and research fellowship in rheumatology at Johns Hopkins University, and subsequently joined the faculty.
Dr. Adler is pursuing a career as a translational physician-scientist, with a focus on understanding the disease mechanisms of the inflammatory myopathies. She is currently working in the laboratory on novel autoantibody and biomarker discovery in myositis. In addition to her work at the lab bench, Dr. Adler also has an interest in metabolomics and is working on an investigator-initiated clinical trial studying the effects of the insulin-sensitizing medication pioglitazone on mitochondrial function and strength in inclusion body myositis. Dr. Adler has clinical expertise in the inflammatory muscle diseases and sees patients in the Johns Hopkins Myositis Center.
